Spray Foam Roofing
What Is Air Spray Foam Roofing?
Spray Polyurethane Foam Roofing is a liquid spray used to coat a roof, rending it seamless and waterproof. Once applied, the liquid spray expands into a foam which insulates the building, keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter.
Spray foam roofing material is crated from the mixture of two chemicals: polyol resin and isocyanate. The chemicals are prepared in separate containers which are then pumped into a spray machine, mixing the materials for application.
What Are The Benefits Of Spray Foam Roofing?
Spray foam roofing is seamless and therefore creates a waterproof seal, which protects the building from leaks.
Rubber roofing is installed with many seams that become loose over time in high winds. Once loose, rubber roofs begin to leak in water.
A major benefit of spray foam roofing is the ability to re-coat the foam after 10-20 years. Over time with wear and tear, spray foam roofs can lose their thickness and need to be re-sprayed. After 10 years, the thickness may be reduced to about 7-10 mils. Fortunately, coating manufacturers usually offer an extended warranty on every re-coat, making spray foam roofing a renewable product.
Spray Polyurethane Foam roofs have an R-Value of 6.6 per inch. SPF roofing is the highest R-Value available on the market.
Spray foam roofing is self flashing and can be applied in minutes, compared to rubber roofing which requires a custom fitting and can take about a half hour to apply. Spray foam can flash around: parapet walls, HVAC units, vents, pipes, skylights, and drains.
Spray foam roofing is quickly installed due to the fact that the spray can easy adhere to curves, domes, or protruding objects on the roof. Spray foam can go around troubled areas in a few minutes, while rubber roofing could take up to 30 minutes.
If damage were to occur on the spray foam roof, due to a shark object being dropped on the roof or perhaps a severe storm which may have caused damages, this can easy be fixed with caulking. Just cut out the damaged area, apply caulking, and smooth it out.
A spray foam roof is the last roof you would need to install because it holds up for 10-20 years and only requires a simple re-coat to maintain it’s quality. Save money and time with spray foam roofing and enjoy the peace of mind that the building is leak free and protected.
